Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire, a quiet area in the West Island of Montreal is what you might call a "sleepy" location. This West Island, to those not familiar with it, is an extensive region that runs from Lachine until the west. Amanda Brugel is said to have been born on West Island. However, it's not the case. Brugel grew in Courtice close to Oshawa. She had a dream to become a dancer, but a growth spurt led to her growing beyond her dance partner. In an article in the Toronto Star she admitted In heels, I'm 6 feet one inch. When I surpassed the size of my male companion, I stopped. Bruce was among the former dancers who turned to acting. Her teacher from high school encouraged her into the right direction. The teacher recommended that she take part in an audition for the annual school production. Following a trial her options, she was eventually the main character for Anne of Green Gables. After receiving the Fine Arts Talent Scholarship, she attended York University and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in 2000. Through the years since Brugel has been offered roles in over 60 shows on both small and large screens, attracting the greatest media attention after she was offered the character as Rita on the award-winning series The Handmaid's Tale (pictured below). Brugel is the only Canadian actor in the season 1 which was viewed only occasionally.
